First Steps

Member information and privacy

First Steps is operated by Minister Sherilyn D. Ware through Sherilyn Ware Ministries. This notice explains how the app uses information to support church onboarding.

Information stored

The app stores your name, email, church enrollment and role, lesson completion, review dates, private reflections, and requests you submit. Church administrators also provide church information, branding, and purchase references for activation.

How information is used

Information supports sign-in, church access, saved learning progress, certificates, support, and payment verification. The sign-in service uses cookies to maintain your session.

What church leaders can see

Authorized leaders can view their own church’s enrolled member names, emails, completion totals, and activity dates. Reflection notes are not shown in leader dashboards or member lists. A church leader cannot access another church merely by changing a church identifier.

Reflections are stored in the app’s database. The operator and service providers may have technical access needed to operate, maintain, or support the service; they are not end-to-end encrypted. Avoid including sensitive personal details.

Services involved

First Steps uses Supabase for email authentication and hosting services for its app and records. Payhip and its payment processor handle purchases and payment details. When connected, Payhip sends payment, refund, and subscription notices to First Steps. The app stores transaction and subscription identifiers, purchaser email, amounts, dates, matching results, and purchase references to manage church access. It does not store payment card numbers.

Spiritual gifts assessment

Assessment answers and results are saved in your browser, separately from server records. They are not sent to church leader dashboards. You can clear your own saved answers from My information. Anyone with access to the same browser profile may be able to access locally saved information.

Your information and requests

Use My information to review enrollments, download your records, or request deletion for a church space. Requests are reviewed manually; submitting one does not immediately delete records. Removing progress would remove access to the completion certificate. Ask about sign-in-account removal or billing records separately.

For a canceled church, course records are retained for 90 days after its paid period ends, then reviewed manually for deletion after notifying the church administrator. Billing records and the sign-in account are handled separately. Records may remain while notification and review are completed. Read the cancellation and records policy for details.

Church membership records

App enrollment and course completion are separate from the church’s official membership decisions and records. Contact your church for changes to its own records.
